Using an RTL-SDR dongle and the RTLSDR Scanner python code I am able to generate Frequency Spectrograms.

Here is a spectrogram of the 70 cm amateur radio band. The VK3RTV repeater on Mount Dandenong may be seen on the right hand side centered at 446.5 MHz.

Here is a spectrogram of the FM radio band from my TV antenna pointing towards Mount Dandenong.

Here is a spectrogram of the VHF Digital TV band from Mount Dandenong. Shown are the 7MHz wide transmissions of the Seven, SBS, Nine, Ten and ABC services. Also shown are the 3 DAB+ radio transmissions too. The gap between Nine and DAB+ is the former analog service. The gap between DAB+ and TEN is the former analog service.

Floor mounted ADS-B collinear antenna upgrade

I purchased a new PVC pipe, a tee joint and two caps from Bunnings.

After adding additional 114mm sections to my antenna I now have it floor mounted and extending up 7 feet to the ceiling.

No longer need to be concerned about using tape or getting a mounting for the antenna.

I have added logos to the pipe.

See updated details at the bottom of my dump1090 page:

I built a collinear antenna using co-axial cable to receive overhead aircraft using a RTL-SDR dongle and a Raspberry Pi 2.

See http://www.vk3nro.com/dump1090/

I followed the instructions in a video posted to rtl-sdr.com

I have connected my satellite dish to RTL-SDR dongles on my Ubuntu Linux ASUS Nettop PC.

Using the RTLSDR Scanner application I have graphed Frequency Spectrograms of the Optus D2 Ku band, Optus D1 Ku band and Intelsat 19 Ku band.

Details may be found on my ham radio website
